Here are some of my favorite activities to use!
They match the picture cards to each other and then practice blending the onset and rime to read each CVC word. You can choose which short vowels they are working on in the writing center — short a, e, i, o, or u!
Just add some oven mitts and you have a super fun center! I like to use these CVC sound boxes to help my student learn the sounds in each word.
CVC Words Writing Centers Like our seasonal writing centersour phonics based writing centers also have routines and activities that kids become familiar with over time.
You can copy double sided and turn it into a book for them to work on over time in the writing center, or run off single pages to have on hand in the writing area for them to write stories or sentences about as they choose.
I am planning on sticking it in a write and wipe pocket so that they can use it over and over again in centers, but it would also be a great formative assessment! They just pick it up so much quicker!
